okaii so SOON i'll be doing an essay/exam; and the main extended response is:

"assess the contribution of nationalism and communism to the shaping of North Vietnam by 1954"

i honestly dont know where i'm supposed to start and i'm just completely stumped. Can anyone please help me?

Define those two concepts, relate them to the struggle against French control by 1954 and whether or not they had an impact (make a judgement i.e.), and provide certain examples to back it up.
