Outline the changes in molecules during chemical reactions in terms of bond breaking and bond making.

This is what I wrote - and it feels extremely non-sufficient:

Atoms are not created or destroyed during a chemical reaction, they are simply rearranged. During a chemical reaction, bonds are broken so that ions/atoms become available for reaction/rearrangement. These newly freed ions/atoms form new bonds.

...

...

That's it. Help me, please. :\

well u gotta list a few types of reaction possible ie: substitution, and addition. it should all be in the first few pages of ur chem book. though the part about atom, it can be destroyed...so don;t write that.

Matter cannot be destroyed or created.

I have a fleeting suspicion (oh, now I see that "energy" is in fact in the title of the thread) that this has to do with energy. You probably already know - when bonds are formed, energy is released, and when bonds are broken, energy is required (or absorbed).

What you have there pretty much describes it. You may add that substitution of atoms or functional groups is possible.

Is that really it? Plus the addition/substitution reactions and the matter thing? *phew* :p Thanks a bunch - I have this weird thing where I don't really move on until something is complete and now I can move on!

We started the HSC course as soon as we got back to school, but Luthien's class is running a bit behind due to some teacher issues.
