Hi, I don't usually write about this poem but here are some really brief notes that I wrote just in case they specify (highly unlikely - i'm paranoid).

Leaving Home
Physical Journeys:
• Smaller physical journey within the larger migrant experience, defines one step in this larger journey
• Again beaurocracy and government policy is moulding the direction of the journey
Techniques:
• Abstract Images/metaphors second half of last stanza – angry, defiant tone
• Metaphors – “severed head”

• “Said goodbye so quickly
I forgot where I was going.” – journey is often rushed – motivation so quick.
