Hi, my name is Emily and I'm in yr11. There is about 15 people in my class (2 unit) and for some reason we work out of Maths in Focus Extension 1. Recently our teacher has been moved to the bottom maths class and now we have this other woman that sits at the desk and looks at us for 50 minutes. No explanations. No help. We can't go find our actual teacher for help in our lesson and we tried to get her help this other teacher herded us back into the room.
What I really want to know is if there is anything we can do about this situation (in terms of getting another teacher) and if there are any better resources that fill the gap between the 2 unit work we should be doing and the 3 unit work we actually do.

Try going to the head of the department,perhaps as a group. And explain the 'issues' with your current teacher (be extremely polite/non confrontational). If this doesn't work try to get your parents to complain as a group.

Don't use maths in focus. Use Cambridge.

There's a really good teacher at Cherrybrook high school called Mr Woo who used to teach at James Ruse and he has a youtube channel for MX1 which you can access. He pretty much records his lessons on there and it's extremely beneficial.

To BLIT2014, the head teacher was our teacher in the first place, so that wouldn't help, the teacher we have will not say a word to us at all and leaves the class before we even have our books in our bags, and our school has a history of not responding to parental complaints.


To enigma_1, the only book we have in the class is a single copy of Maths in Focus 3 unit. all the other books are for 7-10 or General Maths. We work from PDF's on our laptops. I think my parents bought me Cambridge 2 unit, but still, that doesn't help the whole class.
