here are some questions i couldnt't get recently:

1. write down the equation whose roots are the abscissae of the points of intersection of the curves
xy= 5 and y=x^2 -5x+6

there was another question similar to this however it said ordinated instead of abscissae..plz explain what these terms mean

2. When 3^2004 is divided by 10, what is the remainder


theres is also a question on geometry in the file attach which i couldnt get..

Abscissae = x coordinate and ordinate= y coordinate i think


bargh!! time for me to go and study for my half yearly tommrow!!!

1, you eliminate the y's from the equations

substituting the second equation into the first.
so x(x^2 - 5x + 6) = 5

2.)

3^2004 = 9^1002 = 81^501
and you can see the last digit is 1 in the expansion, so the remainder is 1.

(81*81 = xxx1 then you multiply by 81 again, but the last digit remains 1, no matter how many 81s are being multiplied

3.) AX = EX by symmetry
EX^2 + EB^2 = BX^2
but BX = (7 - AX) = 7 - EX
EX^2 + 3^2 = 7^2 + EX^2 - 14EX
14EX = 40
EX = 20/7
AX = 20/7
