hey so i have a speech and im not sure whether I should start it with a quote? i was told to so it'd make my speech 'stand out' but I'm having difficulties trying to find one that suits it. the speech focuses on belonging and how it gives an individual purpose in life.

help appreciated ! thanks

Starting a speech with a quote is slightly less "boring" than starting it with a normal essay introduction.

I suggest you do. Having said that, your quote must be intriguing and/or shocking to grab enough attention. If you can't find one like that, stick to a normal essay introduction.

And for your essay to 'stand out', doesn't only mean a good introduction. It depends on your style. If you like humor, then I would try and make the speech slightly amusing, but not too much (obviously). If you have a more serious style (which the teacher usually likes better), use quotes and techniques that no one will use. Use facts and quotes that will shock your audience.

I hope this helps!
