HELP!!! totally stressing need help with these questions (1 Viewer)

i need so much help, any suggestions on what sources, historians and anything else that i can use would be so great

1. evaluate the purpose of history

2. "a lie can be halfway accros the world before the truth has got its pants on" - winston churchill

asses the role of the historian in encouraging vigilance about the truth


these are some questions that our teacher gave us to help us prep for our trials there were more but these are the two main ones that are giving me trouble

any help in how to answer them would be greatly appreciated

please help me

i'm hopeing that you guys are doing the catholic trials cause we did the independent trials and those questions actually WERE my trial questions!
The second should be in reference to your case study (the quote).
For the other try to document the different uses of history that have been exploited over time:

Herodotus and thucydides = story telling and documenting
Ranke = the methodology of finding "essestially what happened"
Derrida (post modernist) = trying to bring to the fore the minority groups and establishing that there is no "actual fact"
Irving = manipulating history to draw his own conclusions on the holocaust

then draw your own conclusion on what you think should be the overall purpose of history.

we arent doing these questions for the trials, i didnt even know that they were actual trial questions. i thought that they were just ones that he had gone and made up
