On the enrolment guide it says:

Details of the units of study you wish to enrol in or seek academic advice about.

Think of them as like your HSC courses. Each course or unit of study is worth a certain number of credit points (think of it like units in HSC).

A "unit of study" is also a "subject". Typically in a semester you will do 4 units of study, each of 6 credit points. eg http://cusp.sydney.edu.au/students/view-degree-page/degree_id/4 shows you what units of study you do if you are in civil engineering
