I know that i should search before i post new thread but somehow my internet is not allowning me to do so.
so i am posting new thread =P

i just want some help with polymer and ethanol stuff..
especially when it comes to naming complex chain (eg-1,2-ethanediol or 2-methly-2-propanol and etc) i really get stuck...
i know i am asking questions out of no where but i really really need hand on these stuff..
would somebody like to give me like really really basic stuff on polyer and ethanol ?

p.s. - i am looking at HSC online atm..but it doesn't seem help me much lol-

Basic Rules in naming hydro carbons
find the longest possible chain then
you start counting from the end carbon closest to
1. triple/double bonds if not then
2. side branches if not then
3. halogens

when writing out the formula
except for the lets say octan-4-ol
everything else is sorted alphabetically
bromo comes before chloro and methyl etc

someone check this for me its been a while
