Exclusion from enrolment ('two fail rule') for ACCG200, ACCG201, ACCG250 and ACCG253.

Students attempting ACCG200, ACCG201, ACCG250, or ACCG253 should be aware of the “two-fail rule” effective from 1 January 2005.

Under Bachelor Degree Rules 14(4);

“A student who commenced candidature after 1 January 2005 for the Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting degree or for a combined degree award or double degree award including the Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting degree, who has failed to complete ACCG200, ACCG201, ACCG250, or ACCG253 after having been enrolled therein twice is excluded from the Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting degree or the combined degree award or the double degree award including the Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting degree.”

Thats too much pressure for me...but I guess if you do fail it twice you probably shouldnt be doing accounting.

But thats "after 1 January 2005..." :D

Are we able to do Accounting 1A (ACCG100) if we're just doing straight b-commerce, because im still skeptical as i heard from sources that b-com people cant do ACCG100 or something?

I started in Bcom and was allowed to enrol in ACCG100 and ACCG101... you shouldn't have any troubles enrolling. Although, they may have put a quota restriction as I know a lot of 2nd year accounting subjects were very very full last year.

Don't worry until you have to. That's the secret to getting through uni.:)

edit: we've been at uni how long asy? it's like second nature to us... However, newbies tend to skip the finer details as they are yet to grasp the very cumbersome bureaucratic system that permeates through the university system. So to them... I say goodluck.

Tho beware.. if u want to do CA or CPA after u graduate. You have to do BCom (Accounting) with the study pattern of ACG03 not ACG01. But then again.. if u only figure that out in the 3rd year like me.. just change ur degree promtly and everything should be fine.. as a guide these are the units what i took for the past 2 year and my final year this year

1st year: CORE: ACG100, 101, ECON110, 111, ACST101, COMP123 (now ISYS123), STAT171. ELECTIVE: ECON141
2nd year: CORE: ACG200, 201, 253, 250, BUSL250. ELECTIVE: ECON232 (Advance ECON141), STAT279 (really easy!), ACST201 (Advance ACST101, only calcuations!!)
3rd year: CORE: ACG323, 310, 340, BUSL301, 320. ELECTIVE:ACG350 (got nuthing to say about this)

Remember also the 2 fail rule in the 200 levels.. that is if u fail twice in either ACCG200, 201, 253 or 250 (not 251) ur out from Bcom (Accounting). To calrify, u can fail 200 once and 201 once and not get kicked out.. but just not the same unit twice that's all..

Also about the Bcom not able to enrol ACCG100 or sumthing.. here is sumthing that u should know..

Bcom is also called B Commerce in Accounting and Finance
Bcom-Accg is called B Commerce in Professional Accounting

Slightly different but read my thingy above of doing CA and CPA stuff, so if u want to do them, change ur degree later..
