I am getting this question tomorrow, and it will be worth 4 or 5 marks so i really need help because I was away while they were studying it and can't find good help anywhere!

"Bluestone is the common name for hydrated CUSO4. When heated it forms colourless, anhydrous CUSO4. Dissolved in water and treated with HCl, it forms a green tetrachloro copper ion.
Detail the electronic structure of the Cu(II) ion and, with the aid of diagrams, show the different bonding arrangements that lead to this range of colour."

Like f*** me people... Those must have been some important lessons... maybe I can rush to school to ask him in the morning before my exam... <_<

Anyway, please help. Even if it just gives me a better answer for if a similar question is asked in the HSC exams themseleves.
