for full time normal workload you need to go 48 credit points. that works out to be 24 per semester. each JUNIOR, or first year, subject (also called units of study), is worth 6 credit points, so that works out to be 4 subjects per semester.

for commerce, you have core subjects in first year, being econometrics, economics and accounting, business information systems and 1 elective.
here is an example of your first year course load:

semester 1:
econ 1001
ecmt 1010
acct 1001
info 2000

semester 2:
econ 1002
ecmt 1020
acct 1002
elective

you pick your majors later after first year, but keep in mind if you plan to major in something, you may need to have done some pre-req subjects.

I think you meant infs 1000 instead of info2000, and infs is in semester 2
ecmt 1020 is also not a compulsory subject, unless you're doing CPA accounting

i.e. you get 1 elective per semester, so you would probably want to do subjects from the same major so you can do the senior units
