how would u solve it graphically in an exam? cause this question came from CSSA.

Use numerical methods like: halving-the-interval or Newton's method.

e.g. let f(x) = x - e -x

You know root lies between 0 and 1.

Plot y = x and y = e^(-x) on a set of axes. You'll find they intersect at around 0.6 or so and yeah... you can't solve it exactly, so probably just get it right to two decimal places.

Weird question though. But what Drongoski said is probably the 'correct' way to do it. The guessing method is in 2u.

just use newtons method a bunch of times till you find the approximate root.
