I guess there is still discrimination between different cultures in Australia. Although our indigenous people are respected much more than during the last couple of centuries, I still get the impression that we are not fully equal with them.

What about people of higher class who worked their way up from the bottom? It's not completely unattainable if you have drive and determination.

While we can acknowledge that there might be a select few who have worked their way up from scratch, its only a small minority. Whatever opportunties were taken to get them there, they dont come along frequently. This minority still doesnt change the fact that people from poor/lower classes on average have less opportunities than someone from an upper social class.
