well there's the two different ideas as to why America got involved

left wing --> reflection of US imperialism

Right wing --> defense against soviet expansionism

Ahaha, there's way more than that.

Lind - The war in IndoChina was a war America HAD to have
Trokki - Neither party wanted war, it was the only outcome given the circumstances.

Cherryblossom's right, check your text before you listen to most BOSers.

The watershed of the Tet, however, was not in Vietnam but in the United States where the American people had lost their stomach for an inconclusive bloodletting without any measure of success. - Hannah N.

The Kampuchean people had been uprooted, terrorised, weakened, decimated and the fabric of their society had been radically changed. - J. Harpur

Our objective was national independence. - Giap

if u want the most interesting histiography on indochina look up a guy called william appleman williams

I have a few notes i did on him, maybe even a draft essay

Its very different from the mainstream stuff you learn at school, its centred on the US bid to put a stranglehold on the closed circuit econmical system of communists in indochina. I beleive he called it econmoic determinism

PM me for more details

EDIT: here i found the draft essay I wrote, i think i made it adaptable to any question, maybe practice it on 2004 indochina question cause i remember it fit in nicely

good luck

Oh, you wanted the historiography before your history exam....
Nah, your right. It would be pretty cool to keep studying after we've done the exam.

Anyway, there's way too much to study for modern as it is. I'm gonna raise an issue and then talk about historians differing views about it. Really cannot be fucked memorising quotes.
