Yes and what will you be using this information in the future for?
You will (I'm sure) end up doing a job that has 0 relation to what you learnt in that useless history class of yours
All that hours of history and examination on history just for it to go to waste

the basic skills taught in history extension of comprehension, understanding, and constructing a clear and nuanced argument is prolly one of the most universally applicable of any subjects. same with english extension. its not about the specific knowledge its about learning a method of thinking

Yes and you can learn that from just doing purely english alone (which is already mandated)
So why go ahead and do basically the same replica of a subject (added on with the useless history part)?
You learn 'the method of thinking' by participating and doing all sorts in English class already and you can sharpen your mind etc through maths as well
So you might as well do something more useful that can help you in the future instead of learning about the past which I'm sure no one give two shits because our world is constantly technologically advancing every single day

I find it quite stupid to consider your hsc subjects to be reflective of your career aspirations. Sure, it is to some extent if you require a certain mathematical or scientific foundation for your subjects, but the assumption that every history extension student wants to be an archaeologist or historian is quite baseless. You learn to know more about the world, yet being stuck in this bubble of your subjects being a determinant for your future success is one that is unsustainable. A highschool student shouldn’t worry about what’s useful to the world, they can learn that later, but rather focus on their passions so we are no longer the robots you want us to be- as you infer through the idea of STEM being of higher value in this “technologically advanced age.” Thanks for your useless thoughts, it contributed much to this forum.

it's stupid to assume that every history extension student wants to become an archaeologist or historian. in that case, does every maths ext 2 student want to become a pure mathematician? every music extension student wants to become a full-time musician? under your logic, why don't we eliminate pdphe, visual arts, drama, music etc. from our 7-10 curriculum, since most people won't pursue that as a job?

memorising historians and quotes and then essay plans for weird and wacky questions
when i do essay plans i give myself 5 minutes to come up with a nuanced thesis becuase you can so easily end up overthinking these questions, but you also have to make sure you don't end up changing your mind halfway through the exam, so I've found 5 minutes to be perfect
also practicing integrating sources into paragraphs

I'm doing essay plans + have a versatile opinion of history that can be moulded to different questions
