Here's a question:

DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY DO INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY? OR IS IT A NOVELTY COURSE LIKE MATHS EXT 2?

Yes, that's what I thought.

industrial technology isn't a course that is theory based, but is hands-on, as 60% of the HSC raw mark relates to the actual project the student completes. and 40% towards theorical based work

it is, well in my view meant to be a fun course which caters those who do not like the academic forms of subjects of the like of physics and economics - though some will argue opposing this statement. [you could state it is a novelty subject if u wanted giraffe - but ext 2 is not a novelty course in anyway! - i won't go into it.. ]

there were, according to the 2003 term 1 satistics from the boardofstudies website, 6538 students enrolled in this course. it also showed it was more popular then subjects of the likes of Society and culture, food technology and engineering studies - just to name a few.

though the subject does not attract scalling, it is at least a subject most people can enjoy!

I have a question.
How has every one gone in their indust tech half yearlies?? What kinds of questions where you asked?
I got 32% which is way dissapointing cause I normaly get at least in the 80's.

we had 2 answer 60 marks on this one compang merging, it was really bad. I got 2nd, 1st place got 37%

Monnie, I think you have to be at least half cluey to do well in industrial technology.
I hate when people make out as if it's a "dumb" or "easy" subject, cause you need skill, you need to know you're maths, you need to be good at problem solving, you need to know bout the industrial business.

that same senerio happened with our school..
usually i found that the questions they ask in the yr 12 half yearly exam different from the questions that had been asked during prelim...
such as the questions that had been asked in the h/y tend to focus more on the business senerios and how it relates to the chosen technology u are studying

take into consideration this question which was given to me during myH/Y
there is a current recession ad high unemplyment is leading to a smaller number of specialists being trained in industry
a .(i) how would this restrict the growth of industry once the economy begins to grow
(ii) suggest ONE intiative that may be implemented now to adress this future shortage
b. state one adantage and ONe disadavatage of employing a trainee over a fully qualified person
c. discuss how the production equipment used in the undustry youhave studied has changed over the last 20 years
d. (i) what is meant by the term "multi-skilling'?
(ii) give one example of multiskilling in the industry that youhave studied...
(iii) why is multiskillingnecessary in today's industries?
(Iv)
suggest one advantage of multiskilling to the emlopyer and the employee
(v) what is the role of the company union representatibe in the multi-skilling of staff?
(vi) describe an incentive scheme which would encourage workers to 'multi-skill'

that's one whole question from my year 12 half yearly..
i found it @$#@ though i did give all of us a wake up call ...to re-look over our assignments since they are very importent towards answering these types of questions
