The UAC calculator overestimates your score because "ATAR Compass estimates your ATAR using scaling statistics from the past five years" and scaling varies a lot due to UAC thinking it's a good idea to scale subjects based on cohort rather than objective difficulty.

Can someone please explain to me why there's a dip in the scaling for 2024 English right where I conveniently fucking scored? Were there just too many fucking dropkicks in this score range? This pisses me off, i could've gotten 2 atars higher. The fact that I'm about to E4 math extension 1 and 95% of people represented by this line wont speaks fucking volumes on how English doesn't prove anything. Thus should be scrapped or at the very least not mandatory

this pisses me off, scaling is suppose to be something that prevents u from choosing easy subjects if u care about ur atar. english is not easy nor did i choose to do it. why the fuck does scaling change for english, as if its a choice i had?

Scaling exists for one reason only, it prevent you from doing useless subjects and getting higher than a PM student. Except, it's contradictory when its literally done for English, as if I chose to do this subject.

2 page mod c, 4 or 5 page mod a and b. 4 page paper 1 essay and skipped a few Q in short answer
bro expects to get a good mark with a 2 page mod c and skipping short answer questions like r u dumb, i guess you must also be a dropkick cause standard english aint that hard buddy

I'm noticing a trend with English fucking scaling

The harder the math advanced papers, the worse English scales.

side note: Fuck you if you didn't get at least 88 in 2u maths for ruining scaling for English. You're telling me you can't differentiate x^3 + 3x?
Math advanced papers are piss easier - easier than standard math papers as they don't require comprehension of new situations.

Just look at 2021 (hardest math advanced paper according to rmd) scaling graph
then 2024 (second hardest math advanced paper according to rmd) scaling graph

maybe blame urself for only getting 60 raw in english which is insanely bad for how easy the subject has become, if you even just memorise ur quotes and know ur texts to a minimal extent you shouldnt get less than 70 so ur literally dragging down scaling for the rest of us

How the hell is this allowed by UAC? It's like the 2024 cohort was fucking lead poisoned

And the stupid ass UAC calculator overestimates as it averages 5 fucking years rather than just giving us one year of data, hence I referred to HSC scaling graph to get the most accurate prediction and input a corrected mark into the UAC calculator

Instead of putting 73, I put 71 into the calculator, which gives the most correct output (infact it's a slight underestimate instead as it's also averaging 2024's garbage data, but this is more ideal than an overestimate)

Oh my fucking god, I genuinely hate these people. Why the hell do they pick chemistry for no reason?

(physics graph was included to prove my theory correct, though physics being a less popular subject is less affected by a dog shit cohort)

Look at much Chemistry scaling varies, thanks to a wave of dropkicks joining Chemistry sporadically (anecdotally 4/5th of my class)

Fuck you if you failed the 2025 math advanced exam this year (low band 5 or lower) and are doing chemistry concurrently.
My theory clearly holds true (scaling of subject is majorly dependent on math advanced paper difficulty), as 2021 has the worst scaling for Chemistry and Physics DUE to a more "difficult" math advanced paper.

I'm actually pissed 2025 apparently got a hard math advanced paper even though I don't do math advanced anymore - it directly affects scaling for chemistry like shown in the above two graphs.

A person like me BENEFITS chemistry's scaling as I scored good in math ext 1 (so you can't blame me for chemistry's scaling)
