Hey, i was wondering how big UTS is, cuz from the outside it just looks like this really long building and that's it...

Some of the courses at UTS interest me, but i wanna go to a uni that's BIG in area so it feels more like a uni... hehe i know it's wrong to think this way

if u want a big uni. i suggest uni. syd or unsw.

uts is more confined and tight knit community.

Massiveness is not that great in my opinion. UTS is big really, because there are so many campuses... the city campus has a fair few buildings, and it is pretty cool how it is just part of the city. But it is obviously not as "big" as Sydney or UNSW. It certainly isn't just the tower.... there is the tower, building 2, bon marche, science building, peter johnson, building 10, haymarket, all of the insearch buildings and the institute for international studies... plus blackfriars campus (a little bit further down broadway). There's also Kuringgai campus and St Leonards campus.

But in some ways I felt like you... there was a time when I thought sandstone and open grassy spaces would make for a better uni experience. But let me tell you, at UTS you aren't really missing out on anything really in my opinion.

okay... UTS is (correct me if i'm wrong):
  • 3 campuses
  • 30-odd storeys at its highest point
  • spread over ten buildings in the broadway campus
  • a skip away from central/buses/interstate trains (yeah we want some interstate ppl)
  • has a fuckload worth of computers
  • wireless network
  • provides the internet to usyd/unsw
  • sexy architecture (various parts of it, that is)
  • friendly atmosphere
  • one-of-a-kind courses
  • strong industry links
  • gives the practical skills employers want
  • many international student facilities
  • and much, much more...

why don't you come to our open day and find yourself?

think. change. do. UTS

(fuck i sound like a dickhead marketer.)

I have two points to add:
a)who needs grass when you have those comfy couches?
b)if you feel a yearning for the sandstone/grass experience, USyd is just a 10 minute walk/80c bus trip down the road:)

That's because you're in the dodgetastic Building 3! We get them all the time in Uni Hall (building 4) as well as some other spots.

building 6 is where it's aaaaaaat
that and the vertigo offices. if you're in a lift and someone gets off on level 7, they're either a boring admin person or someone cool doing something for (or editing) vertigo. next issue should be out by the end of this week, keep your eyes peeled.

Oh I wanna write something for vertigo one day. How do u get involved?

The story where they "infiltrated" Gumal cracked me up.... especially since housing installed security alarms on the fire exits immediately after the article was published so nobody could infiltrate it again lol.

And for the record Lexi, all my lectures are in university hall, so nerr!!! And don't knock Building 3, the people inside it make it the funkiest building!!!!

The people inside it need a shower. Except people in MAP, because I know people in MAP and they're cool. They get to play with PowerMac G5s!

Stop knocking humanties folks! The journalism people I work with are highly sophisticated people!!!! Not bogan hippies!! I could say science folk are nerds, but I am accepting to all people in the university spectrum!

But we are nerds, what's your point?

Well, most of us are nerds. The people who are only in science because they couldn't get anything else aren't nerds, though a few of them try to study like nerds to get transfers, which is a noble disposition if you ask me.

If you want some real nerds, I shall point you to Building 2 - it is engineers you seek. Be careful though, they flail at you when they're drunk (which is always).
