Can anyone give me advice about how to get into Tourism at UTS Kuring-gai? I didn't get the marks in 2005 in the HSC and now I'm doing Community Welfare at TAFE which sucks! What should I do? Should I switch next year to Tourism Management at TAFE? Has anyone out there got into Tourism at UTS via the TAFE route?

When you finish your course at TAFE, then apply through UAC to UTS. If you're finishing at the end of this year, then apply in August/September through the UAC website (http://www.uac.edu.au) as an undergraduate student.

There are a number of ways you can do tourism at UTS:
- Bachelor of Management in Tourism
- Bachelor of Management in Tourism and Hospitality
- Bachelor of Business (majoring in Tourism) at Kuring-gai

You can read about all these courses in the UTS handbook here: http://www.handbook.uts.edu.au/bus/ug/index.html

I don't know too much about the courses though, so hopefully someone else here does.

An alliance between TAFE NSW and the University of Technology, Sydney has created a unique degree program tailor made for students who have completed the TAFE Advanced Diploma of Hospitality (Management).

Graduates of the TAFE diploma who have attained a credit result or better now have the option of studying for another 18 months full time to add a UTS Bachelor of Management in Tourism and Hospitality to their CV.
I also imagine that any tourism diploma at TAFE would give you significant exemptions in your degree if you chose any of the other options Jase has outlined.:)
