my bro been using this pc for 2 weeks. so i came back from uni and i found it has virus on it. in c drive it has files like "fat elvis" "lol that your pic" "me on holiday" >>> msdos shortcuts, jenifer lopez.scr lspt.exe etc.

ctrl alt del dont work. msconfig works but the virus still starts up. every time i delete the files they come back in 5 seconds. when i search for virus removals my ie closes. norton does not work. even some threads here dont work which contain info on how to remove viruses, ie just quits.

how the hell can i get rid of this.

Download a virus scanner, or update the definitions for existing software, and do a scan to remove your viruses. Once this is done, download adaware, and see if you can clean the computer up a bit more.

hmmm, thats a similiar one to that ISASS.exe worm
make sure u close MSN,
do to ur received files / C:/ and try delete all the crap thats there - pif shortcuts as well as other weird files

now, wait about 10 mins,

keep pressing ctr alt delete
and eventually the screen will come up. end task all the weird things in ur end processes.

I had something similar to that. Norton wouldnt work period, even when I tried to get a scan off their site ( ps dont unistall norton). It had created a pic on my desktop and wouldnt go away even though I found some of the files ( some of the files change the registery keys , so that you can never get rid of them). I got a techniction to come out . He took it away and tried to get rid of it for a week, no success. And he has dealt with a lot of these buggers , he specialises in it
The only option left was left was to reformat the hard drive.

If you are going to reformat it , make sure that you got the stuff you really need to keep and the programs ( eg if you run windows , makes usre that u have the dics for xp , if not ring microsoft and quaote your tower and product number ( found on the side of the machine))

I have no experience with this particular nasty, but you'll find that sometimes renaming the executables for your virus scanner will allow it to run without being killed off by said nasty. Probably a remote chance, but you never know your luck, I've had it work before.

IF it is a msn worm, you must run a removal. deleting the files in your received files doesn't work

I hope i'm not stating the obvious, but have you tried running your anti- Antirus/Spyware/Adware applications in safe mode? Just tap F8 on start up and log in as administator.

mate, it worked for me.
wen the worm is running, Ur virus programs screw up!!
Ad-Aware freezes every time it reaches the main exe file that is the worm.

the Symantec removal file for the previous worm u put up, it didnt even work mate. It detected jackshit!

The way I did, after i got the ctrl alt del screen up, i removed all the bogan screw up ur PC files, and ran ad-aware, worked an killed all the trash.

Boot into safe mode and run a virus scan.. usually that works
