I'm in year 10 & just curious about how my subjects scale.

Ext1 math.
Adv English
Biology
Chemistry
Economics.

I need to pick one more subject but I'm quite indecisive between business & legal studies. What are your opinions? I heard there are heaps of essays involved in legal studies. =/

Hello!

I do all of the subjects that you are thinking of doing except for biology so i don't really know how it sclaes. Ext 1 Maths scales pretty well, as well as Chem. I'm not entirely sure about Economics though.

I do Legal Studies but i'm not loaded with essays to do. I must admit, i do think the preliminary syllabus for legal studies is dry, but the hsc syllabus is much better. As for business, i wouldn't know what it's like, but if you like it or seem to be interested in more of the business studies syallabus then legal studies' than go for it.

I know you might have heard this alot. But don't base your choices on scaling. If you blitz the subject, you'll automatically get good marks.

legal involves alot of research .. .. you cant limit ur knowledge to whats in the textbook..its essential you are up to date with things happening in the media (cases and law changes etc) and yeah essays sigh ..alot for me! i just finished one 5 mins ago lol.

business studies has ALOT of content and its not hard..its just remembering everything... the topics you do are marketing ( products etc) , business management and change( how change is brought about in businesses and how its managed), employment relations ( e.g. disputes, awards), global business ( globalisation), financial ( equations , ratios)

i do both and i prefer business studies ( largely due to how well im doing in it)

have u looked at the past hsc exams for both subjects?

All your subjects scale average to well

I think in order it is 3u maths > eco > chem > adv. english > bio

I'm not too sure..it could be bio > english

I heard legal studies can be quite a cumbersome subject to study..but i also hear that business studies is really boring..take a pick

Pick Legal Studies. Business Studies is seriously for the dum. Sorry to say.
