yea, I think it means after all the scaled ones, not just ur HSC mark scaled mark

i.e if you do a lot of shitty subjects with HSC mark scaled mark is 93, it would scale down
as opposed to doing 4u maths, English adv, chem, physics, it would scale up

Yes, sorry for any confusion.
You have a raw exam mark, which is "aligned" to get the HSC mark (not going to go into internal or external - go look at the pinned threads), then the HSC mark gets scaled to get added to make your ATAR.

The only marks you ever see are the HSC marks.

BBD217 tells us they got 92 for HSC mark.
Using the HSC Raw marks database (Can't provide link, sorry) You can say BBD217 got around 87-88 "raw" exam mark. "Aligned" up to 92, and "scaled" down to 82 (I've adjusted slightly after having a 2nd look).
You can also see this info visually on HSC Scaling Graphs. (Not allowed to provide link)
UAC only gives certain points, top 1%, 10%, 25%, so you have to extrapolate, but gives you an idea, without really telling you.

If you are after an 80 scaled in English here are the HSC marks you need (not exam marks)
English Standard and Advanced scaled similarly - 88

An English Standard raw exam mark of 87.5 was aligned down to 86 HSC mark. (only one mark to go off in the database)
An English Advanced raw exam mark 84 was aligned up to 88 HSC mark

Pretty much most subjects are scaled down, very few actually go up.

Knowing this can help, with choosing subjects or which to drop, but generally don't stress about what you can't control, only do what you can do, which is to work hard, give yourself rewards for meeting goals and the marks will take care of themselves. Most people I speak to wonder why they stressed so much, everyone pretty much finds their place.

Probably less work tho if u consider that a higher percentage of people get 95+ in english than Challenger in tft.
