Particularly if you want a very high first class honours, like 95+.

You'll have to have a incredibly good thesis.

IMO to achieve a thesis of this caliber you'll have to be both very talented and passionate about your work.

There is one person (forgot his name) at USYD who achieved a perfect 100/100 for his honours in astrophysics. He later when on to graduate schools such at Harvard and MIT.
