I'm just curious. How long can u use a uai for? I mean, if u were to leave yr 12 and not apply for uni, how long can u apply for using ur uai?

I suspect you can always use it, however with the way the system changes that if you left it too long there'd be new prerequisites that our 'old' UAIs wouldn't cover...

Nope, a lot of Graduate courses still look at your UAI, and I'm sure that a lot of Grad students are older than 21.

Really, though, it depends. Some unis may scrap the system altogether, some might keep it for some departments, UAC might change its system, etc etc.

I think it is rude to ask people about UAI's. But to answer the question, I think it is until you are a mature age student. I have noticed though when looking at the job noticeboard quite a few places still ask to look at your HSC results.

i fuckin hate people asking what uai i got, like fuck off dickhead just because you got 99.xx doesnt mean you are better than me, it means you are a douche because i got into the same course with a minimum of effort, enjoyed yr 12 whilst you pissed your life away studying.

besides, i kick the shit out of them in assessments.

it means nothing now unless you wanna transfer to another uni so dont ask me about it because its w waste of time unless you wanna act all superior, so either way i dont want the convo to happen in the first place.

I know the Uni of Melbourne usually won't accept Year 12 results as a basis for entry if they are more than 10 years old. I think you'd have to check with each uni to see what their policy is.

I heard--and now have experienced it--no-one cares what your UAI is once you're in uni--they'd naturally assume you're either good enough, or rich enough to get in, so no-one questions that. I would never ask people their UAIs, just because I seriously think the entire Pharmacy faculty achieved better than I did (yes...hangs head in shame of inferiority complex), and I would never want to not make friends just because of a stupid question.

Even lots of U/G courses don't if you apply to transfer.

I've experienced the exact opposite actually - I've been repeatedly asked about my UAI while in uni. Though I think its more because people are searching for something to say, I still find it a little off putting.

Once you're in uni, good. UAI doesn't mean anything, and never talk about it unless you want to be alienated. Nobody cares about what you got, and nobody wants to know what you got. It's just 4 (or for the 20 or so people, 5) useless digits that has no meaning.

On the contrary, most of pharmacy don't seem that bright for a so called 'specialist' course that is suppose to 'challenge' the students.
