Hi guys.

Do students normally do 4 units of study per semester? Is that the normal load?
Do you think that 5 or 6 units of study (including 1 unit of engineering stuff which has labs) per semester will be too much work?

5-6 for Science and Engineering is normal because of maths but usually its 4 for everyone else.

The recommended CREDIT POINTS per semester is 24. This equates to about 4 units (each which have 6CP).

The MAXIMUM CP per semester is 30. Ie 5 Units maximum.

For a start, they won't allow you to do >30 CP. And secondly, even with 5 units, if your engineering unit has labs/pracs and all that jazz, it might take up too many hours on your timetable to even fit.

I'm doing 30CP this semester but my 'add on' unit only takes up 3 hours per week.

You should check with your faculty/timetable people if you want to overload.

This is only the case in first year though, after that the maths become combined and hence you would only do 4 units.
