How much is this desktop worth?

I'm thinking of buying this, second hand desktop,

Stats:

Its a Dual 1.8Ghz G5.
1G of RAM.
2x 80G HD.
128Mb ATI 9600XT
Mac OS X 10.3
8x SuperDrive
3 Months Warranty left on it

So how much do you think it's worth?

Well it's obviously a custom job. So any ideas on the price?

Just a mate who is selling this. I'm interested in buying, so how much do you reckon it's worth?

Any estimates?

No sorry. I still can't believe it is a laptop. If it is... it must be huge. And heavy.

Seriously, a dual G5 laptop with 2 harddrives. Crazy.

I can only price the RAM, HDDs and Video Card. Making an educated guess, I'd say probably about $2000.

The video card is ~250, the hard drives together would be be ~400+, and the video card about ~250. That's only 900, as you can see, but I don't know about the processor or this 'Smart Drive', or whether the warranty is factored in.

I wouldn't buy a laptop with only 3 months warranty, though. Not worth it, I don't think.

No warrenty is fine, i can get it extended if i want to, an extra $200 will extend it.

So including the processors etc.. what do you reckon?? around $2300-2500??

I'd still say $2000+ , but I wouldn't go higher than 3000. It depreciates too quickly to be over 3000.

Maybe it's a desktop machine with shoulder straps? :)
He told me it was a laptop by accident, but actually it is a desktop. How does this affect the price?

alot laptop bits are more expensive

Its a Dual 1.8Ghz G5. - like $200 second hand
1G of RAM. - $150 if generic second hand
2x 80G HD. man around 50 a 80 gig drive so about $100
128Mb ATI 9600XT - 200 tops second hand
Mac OS X 10.3 - $200 maby i dunno i only deal with ms
8x SuperDrive superdrives aint that good ild say $150 tops
3 Months Warranty left on it - nothing 3 months in worth nothing

i wouldnt pay more then 1 grand if its just a tower

you need more specs like what kinf of audio card does it have ?
if its a high end one add another 100
if its got a hdtv tuner best quality add another 100
nice 17 inch lcd add another 400

then the price his about 1600

+ the case it might be a custom antec job add another 75

total for every thing 1675

if he is telling you 2gs for the tower lol rip of.....
i know where to get better deals then this cheaper

Hmm IMO I would say as a desktop, the price would be lower as generally laptops with specs like that would cost more than a desktop with those specs...but I dont know too much abt duel processors...so I cant give u an exact price :)

hmm i was just doing a bit of research into this and apparently g5 macs are very good computers so you are expecting to pay more them what you would get from a computer store ie 1500-2000 for this sytem because of the build quality that g5s are...so i probly take back my previous comments about it been not worth 2 grand its possible that it could be worth 2 grand....if its in great condition....ild say about 1500 though if its in reasonable condition..
