That's 2 hours in total 5 times a week. Homework & STUDY. To cover the 2 & 3 & 4 unit material all together. Most schools ask you to still sit the 2 unit assessment tasks just incase you drop back to 3u before the HSC, and your school would like some 2 unit scores upon which to compute a school based assessment mark to pass onto the board of studies.
Nothing worse (from the schools point of view) then when a complete boofhead even attempts 4u only to drop out late in the year. And they don't even have a bunch of poor 2unit marks to support their supposition.
The deadline for dropping from 4 unit back to 3 unit is quite late in the year. Please confirm this with your school studies coordinator or who ever. It used to be even later than the deadline for dropping from 3 unit to 2 unit. Maybe the same date now – who knows – so up to you to check with your school officials. Make sure you ask to see it in writing – or an official website or what ever.
STUDY you ask - what is that?
You finish your 3u homework in 40 minutes. You finish your 4u homework in 40 minutes. Then you have 40 minutes to STUDY 3 &/or 4u maths.
If you have had a test in the last 3,6, or 12 months that was a particular poor result, then go back and study up your weakness.
If you know the next topic or chapter to be taught by your school, then lightly read (scan) over the next topic(s) or chapter(s). Maybe even try to teach yourself in detail. Which is good practice for uni.

If (once you are at uni) you ever hear a 95% to 100% scoring student tell you that they do next to no study, then you know that you are hearing B...S... It's a very competitive world, and sometimes these type of students like to play mind games with you, and try to psych you out. Maybe 1 in a 100 is a true genius & is telling the truth, but the other 99 are very bright people who study hard.
