how the hek to format xp (1 Viewer)

i cant format xp. its ntfs, n for some stupid reason my windows 98 second edition boot disk dont work. any other ideas on how to format?

Win98 is unable to format it because it does not know how to access NTFS drives. As far as Win98 is concerned, it is something that it is not capable to touching.

There are many utilities out there to fix this. Here is one called delpart:
http://www.russelltexas.com/delpart.htm

Boot into DOS using your Win98 boot disk, run delpart (from a floppy or otherwise), and use it to zap any partition to oblivion.

u need a bootable xp disk. make sure your pc boots from the cd at start up. u ll get all these menus. follow them through. done

mind u..I always format my HDD with win 98 boot disk.....I dunno y u can't do it....btw...it's a bit complex.

cmos setup 1st boot preference cd rom
then load ure winxp cd

the setup will load
and later there is an option to format through win xp setup

Then how come it can access them on a network?

The remote computer is able to access an NTFS drive; it is merely telling the Win98 computer what it sees.
