I'm studying Gwen Harwood and I have to create a personal response in speech form i.e. I need to address the audience.

But I don't know how to address the teachers and students without simply saying 'Goodmorning ...... '. Is there any other, more sophisticated, way of addressing the audience?

Thank you!

Never start a speech with Good Morning ick, also never ever say Thank you as an end of the speech. As a speaker, you do not thank the audience for listening, they should be thanking you for the speech.

Use an interesting hook to start on your topic, to get them hooked. Don't dance around too much in the intro, go for the jugular from the get go. Open with a quote, your thesis whatever-not ever, "Today, I'm talking about blah blah..."

If you want to incorporate the audience into your speech, I'd normally opt for second person so, you, those among us etc.
