How to calculate your ATAR from trial/past paper marks (1 Viewer)

If anyone used these who was doing their hsc in 2023 / 2024, can you tell me how accurate it was? I know since its based on 2022 aggregated marks or whatever its going to be a bit inaccurate for 2025 but I want to know. I've been expecting a high 80s atar and PRAYING for a 90 because that would be absolutely huge for me. The spreadsheet is telling me 96.15 and I don't want to get false hope... thanks

uac gave me 93.7 while carrots's one gave me 94.2, i got 93

What figures did you input? Your trials marks? Because UAC is giving me 90.25 whereas carrots' is giving me 96.15 - so a pretty significant difference compared to yours hahaha

I put in my raw marks on carrots one because I’m pretty sure it’s designed to be like that while for the uac one I put in my hsc marks

all it's doing is converting the 2023 raw marks u input into 2022 data, so probably overall the tests were harder in 2022

its as accurate as the marks you're putting in. if the marks you're putting in are delusional, it'll give you a delusional atar, if you put in accurate raw marks from papers comparable in difficulty to the 2022 HSC, then it'll give a fairly accurate ATAR estimate. this is all explained in more detail in the disclaimers in the original post of this thread

but your trial exams aren't necessarily the same difficulty as the 2022 HSC so they would scale differently.

can you send me a list of the conversions you’re doing and what calculator you’re using? there’s a lot of things that could be the reason for this it’s hard to narrow down without specific numbers

If anyone wants to know how accurate the calculator is.... here is a comparison of what it estimated vs my actual atar

Calculation when i put in my trials marks: 96.75
Calculation when i put in my internal marks/averages: 96.15

My actual atar was 96.65

For context I was hesitant when it gave me those calculations because every other atar calculator was telling me 86 - 92 so i wasn't expecting that high

Anyways extremely accurate!!!

just wanted to say that this calculator was pretty accurate for me in 2025 - it estimated a 96.20 from my trial marks and I ended up getting a 96.80 - as well i didnt go to an insanely academic school. just thought i would share my experience as I was quite sceptical of the estimate, but didnt have to be. (take this with a grain of salt though)

Is it accurate if these are my raw marks? My school's assessments tend to be a bit easier Id say.

Probably will drop physics or ext 2 this term, when I remove ext 2 it drops, so Im contemplating on which one.

You have to do the 2022 HSC Papers for those specific papers to get an accurate idea. You can't just use raw internal assessment marks.

You could also try to compare the difficulty of 2022 papers to your assessments and try to predict some sort of conversion.

So should I do the 2022 papers, see what I get and put those marks in? Will that be accurate?

your internal raw marks aren’t considered (there’s no way to enter them after all!) but keep in mind your internal raw marks themselves aren’t used for calculation, it’s based on your ranking and the distances between ranks instead.

you pretty much just have to keep this in mind - if you do a lot better than you did internally in your hsc compared to your peers then your internals will bring you down, and vice versa.
