Use Study Guides if you're really desperate. Excel has good books for a certain range of subjects, whereas Macquarie usually has its best books in the humanities area.

Textbooks
Maths Ext: Cambridge, Fitzpatrick, Terry Lee, Maths in Focus, Understanding, Couchmann's book, Past Paper books
Chemistry: Jacaranda, Chemistry Contexts, Spotlight, Dot Point, Surfing Chemistry
Physics: Jacaranda, Spotlight, Physics Context etc etc

So, only use study guides if you're in actual need of it or you're going to supplement it as a summary guide for your syllabus.

Cambridge or Macquarie. :)

Excel could do a lot better with their study guides.

A lot BETTER.
