Theres a button on your keyboard thats called "Print Screen" (it might be abbreviated). Press that, and your entire screen is copied into the clipboard, then you can paste it into a graphics program like Paint to look at.

I think you also have to hold the shift key down when pressing print screen.

Holding Alt-Control then pressing Print Screen takes a screenshot of the active window.

It might be your keyboard - the print screen button is leftover from the DOS days and is obselete now, so alot of keyboard manufacturers cram it on the same key with other things so you might need to press Shift or Function to use it.

Do you have a special kind of brand or model keyboard?

The Print Screen button is usually on the right hand side of all you Function keys (the F1-F12 keys), and above the "Home", "End", "Insert" and "Delete" keys.

it should be "Prt Scr" in to right hand cornerish.

and [alt] + [prt scr] copies current window, not Control + Alt

Did you open a graphics program (like Paint) and paste the screenshot into the program?

Hitting Print Screen only copies the screen into the clipboard. Your computer doesn't do anything other than that.
