consider the polynomial P(x) = (x-1)(x-2)(x-3) = x^3 - 6x^2 + 11x - 6
x = 2 is a root
x = 3 is a root
therefore x = 6 is a root, as 2*3=6
therefore, P(x), a cubic, has roots 1, 2, 3, 6
but also, x = 2 is a root, and x = 6 is a root
therefore x = 12 is also a root
therefore the same cubic, P(x), has roots, 1,2,3,6,12
and hence by an induction-ish thing, P(x) has infinitely many roots
