airbrushing = putting the fancy designs on the fake nails with this machine (i'm not entirely sure about how it actually works..)
It's like a mini spray gun. You can get awesome designs painted on... Imagine a car getting painted with cool graphics.. It's the same principle, only your nails are the car.

but yeah, i really dislike fake nails. they are too long and too fake and stuff. i just like my own real nails. and it doesnt cost me money maintaining them, as i just cut them every month or so when they get too long for my liking, and i clean them every day.
I have a full set of acrylic nails with french tips on at the moment and they look good, they aren't too long.I got them done about 2 wks ago and a first they took a couple of days to get used to but now they just feel like normal nails.

i usually leave mine pretty long so there's no need for me to get fake ones. the only difference between mine and a set of fakes would be that the fakes would probably be a bit stronger (mine arent weak, but they still break/chip when they get pretty long). if anything i'd just put nice polish on, i've got no need to spend heaps on acrylics and airbrushing - with most acrylics you can tell they're fake..and everyone sees my nails when they're long and asks "are they real?"

it doesnt shit me, i just take it as them saying i've got nice nails. but i've gotta admit, it does get a bit annoying having to tell everyone that they are real. luckily i havent gotten many people asking anymore (since yr 11-ish) plus now i've cut them, so they're pretty short (compared to normal anyway)

If you've got a bit of cash, look into a set of acrylics for the formal. They're usually around $50/set, and if you go to someone good, they're awesome. .
I paid $36 for mine:). The place where I went had a special on.

then they'll look at them again and again and (eventually) work out that they're real....depending on how much of a crunchie they are

So you only get fake nails for the stares and questions?

I'll never have long nails. My nails are weak. They break easily. Maybe because I rip them layer by layer too much.

Can you get fake nails that are already painted and decorated on?

At the mention of black polish...does anyone have any suggestions at all about how to NOT make a mess!!!?? See, i use a clear coat first, and my hand's gotten steady enough so i dont make yucky smudges on the sides. But when it comes to taking the stuff off, i end up with black in the creases and chipped bits that i cannot get out. Even when i dont go right to the edeges this happens. Looks horrible - not the best image for work either =p

Anyway...black nailpolish you can get from cheapo shops...im sure you must have a Go-Lo or something around the place. Black Toenails i wouldnt suggest though =p

edit: yes you can...K-mart has them, i know that for a fact
What colour is your formal dress?

i'm pretty sure you can....but they're the dodgy ones you stick on yourself. acryllics are the ones you pay lots for, but they look much better and last longer

Yeah... Better to get acryllics cos then you can get whatever design you want, and you know they'll last.

how did it manage to come off?

one of my friend's sister bent her nail (acryllics) yesterday and the whole nail came off - real and acryllic...she went to the doctor and they just ripped the whole thing off - no anesthetic or anything - crap that's gotta kill!!

Ouch!that would have killed.
It came off my little finger, I kind of knocked my hand and it bent back and it flung off.
None of my nail came off with it, so I was lucky.
I've had them for 2 and a half wks now, and they still look good except I need to get infills done.
