how do you type in subscripts and superscripts?

insert--->object-->microsoft equations

Or if you don't have microsoft equations, just highlight whatever you want as a subscript/superscript, right click, click font, then check the box that says subscript/superscript.

e.g

Fe²⁺(aq) + 2e^- --> Fe(s)

To enter the ²⁺ charge for example use the superscript tags [ sup] and [ /sup] WITHOUT the spaces.

e.g

O₂(g) & O₃(g)

To enter the ₂ or ₃ number of atoms in a molecule for example use the subscript tags [ sub] and [ /sub] WITHOUT the spaces.
