Don't you mean '03? Wasn't 1993 the last paper in which the top students (Allison Elizabeth Parker and Anthony Henderson) got 120/120?

That was an alright exam actually. Left out about 15 marks all up =\ Goddamn time restraints.

I finished Q1-5 and 7, and basically didn't attempt 6/8, may have scraped a few for the induction question, so about 90/120

Got through the first 4 questions fairly easily, but it looked like they left the blank page before Q5 as an easy/difficult divider. It was a fairly good exam, but I curse those time constraints.

Most of our grade spent the first half of the exam going oh yeh, this aint bad, until we realised there was no way we'd finish

I agree up untill 4 it was a nice easy paper :), then it became drastically harder :p.
I got Q1-4 out of the way fine, should have done well on Q5 and Q6 will get 0/15 for Q7 and probably 2/15-4/15 for Q8

First 4 questions were good, except for 4 c) ii), where it asked you to show the eccentricity of the ellipse was at least 1/sqrt2. wtf is with that?

Question 5: triangle stuff was easy, the combinations thing wasn't too bad but I'm 99% certain I will only get 1/2 for the second part, couldn't do the first part of the integration but did the second, volume was easy.

Question 6: hardest induction I've ever done but I got through it all, complex number stuff I did ok in, can't believe I couldn't get the first part though ("maths block" I like to call it :p)

Question 7: circle question was insane as usual, but I got parts i) and iv) out, part b) was the best question in the paper! I had so much fun working through that, got it all out :)

Question 8: I should have learned how to show that inequality... but alas *sigh* I did parts iii) and iv) though. That last conic was a bitch, I don't think I got any marks for it.

Overall: I think the paper was very solid. Not exceedingly difficult, but not easy either--it was at a good standard for my ability personally. I'm happy :)

Questions i couldn't do:

4c ii.

show e of elips is at least 1/sqrt(2)

5b ii
in how many different ways could the outcome of this competition be recorded

i didnt even understand this.

c, i
(no idea - never seen it represented like this before)

6a. ii
i have an idea but i think my proof was dodgy as

7a iii
s/u < r/p

no idea

iv
(i said something but i think its wrong

8 a, i - couldnt prove its a min

ii - couldnt do this well but i got pretty far

b: ii - no idea

iv - no idea

I think about 90-100/120 if i didnt fuck up the rest.

I pretty much killed that exam. Quite happy. Compared to previous years I think it was a piece of piss. Answered 1 - 7 no problems, question 8 I did just on 10marks worth, so i'm looking at about 100 - 110. Probably going to win the HSC.

Hah sure mate... question 1-4 were fine. I found question 6 a piece of cake but got stuck on the parallel line proof for question 7 (i know its easy now lol). Question 8 was very soft i thought... esp part b, that was just some funky sine rule application...but last question i had no idea. I rekon >100...at most 113 if i didnt make sillies...
Edit: by last question i mean q8 part (b) section (iv)...

Ok, admittedly I've done 2 years of uni maths now, but I can honestly say 8a) is the easiest 8a) I've seen (in a while at least).

Moreover, I'm almost 100% sure that 6i) was in a past paper I've done.

Looks long, but I'd be expecting really good students to at least get 115+
