Free period, so I went to play tennis with a friend. Just realised today that our half-yearlies are in three weeks time.

So,.

Oh. Has anyone else been taught that in (essays/assignments and things) you should pressume the marker knows nothing (even though they do know their stuff).?

Today we were told that in English you should expect the marker to know their stuff...

Anyone else heard that? We hadn't.

P.S. Watch Skins on SBS at 10pm EST Mondays.
Yeah i've been told that, it is like writing an essay or whatever for someone who knows nothing about the topic because of the hope that you'll write about absolutely everything necessary in order for them to understand. If that even makes sense :uhoh: LOL. Of course the marker knows their stuff, it is just a technique to ensure you can say all you can.

Business Studies: financial planning cycle
Free (meant for dist. ed. Food Tech): played online games because I had no work
Maths: good, did trig stuff (again!)
Adv English: King Lear reading, not bad. Even funny at times.

I HEART SKINS. Best show.

Re: How was your school day? 2008.

For some reason I've been dumb the last two days and done pretty much nothing in class, leaving myself a solid pile to attempt this weekend. I really should get on top of it or it'll just keep accumulating...

Re: How was your school day? 2008.

English is confusing. Teachers say to get straight to the point and not to retell the story. But how the heck are the markers meant to know every possible text under the sun? Especially for supplementary material... I can't see how I can say "Frank says he is sorry as he dies" if they don't know who the heck this Frank guy is. If that made any sense... It's especially hard with images, because you have to describe every bloody detail (which takes like 2 pages at least if you do art lol) before you can go onto the meaning of the piece.

Bloody English.

I hate Fridays. And Thursdays. They seem to go on forever.

Re: How was your school day? 2008.

Oh Com'on, that's not too bad. My Monday and Thurday are each other's copy except for a later start for Monday and I have to stay at school until 3.50 (3.10 is the normal). I don't even have any extra period for Ex2 Maths cuz' the teachers don't have free periods!

My English class is as boring as hell. (yeah, I'm a loathsome phony because it's actually unbearably tedious) I fall asleep straight away. OMG. School is sooo unattractive. How could I fall deeply in love with it last year???

I've only watched it a couple of times, although don't recollect anything much resembling porn.

Well yesterday was fun, we had to organise the "meet the prefects" day for the year 7s. so basically we just played games and ate, it was awesome.

I didn't do annnyyy work though. sooooo today I have to catch up.

Hopefully I can:

- Find some more possible ext 1 supplementary texts
- Do my Weimar Republic notes
- Re-read N+S and do hmwk questions
- redo my 19th c. monologue
- Do an ext. french oral practice
- catch up with AH notes
- re-do my P+P notes and add to them
- de-constract the two french articles
- edit two french writing tasks
- do french practice listening tasks
- research for my ext hist mjrwk
- do some ext 2
- do a AH pp
- do a french continuers pp

Ohhh that's so much. :(

How many lessons do people have a day in other schools?
How long do your lessons go for?

I have four lessons in one day and each span about 75 minutes. Plus we never double up for the same lesson on the same day. Just four different subjects a day for 4 days a week and only two lessons ever on Wednesday.

Subject, recess, subject, recess, subject, lunch, subject.

Different?
