hey guys,
just doing some past papers and came across this question, its really confusing me, just wondering if anyone out there would have any suggestions as to how to tackle this thing...
thanks!!!

Discuss how effective the composers of the texts you have studied in the area of study have been in representing physical journeys that have challenged our thinking and broadened our understanding of our world.

thanks guys...

Only 2 more days til it starts are we all excited??? fun fun fun!!! :)

I think I'd probably go on and talk about how composers of physical journeys have an accompanying emotional/personal journey with any physical one, allowing the traveller to brooaden their horizons and knowledge - abvout themselves, the world around them, the people they know etc...

Does that help?

hey theres nothing wrong with skzrynecki's poems.. its just that the evil masterminds at BOS decided to use his poems for prescribed text..

Regarding the essay.. quote!! name stylistic points and support them with quotes!

its a question about techniques - the techniques composers use to represent the journey and hoe effective these methods are. So basically the stylistic features and how they help in relating to the joureny.

stuff 8 pages.

my hands simply dont write that fast.
stuff spending hours doing up practice essays.

I find this whole thing utter b*llshit and i'll be glad when it's over.

Let the rich Sydney schools worry about their HSC since the age of 15,
Even if I bloody get 90 in my english exams, the stupidity of my fellow schoolmates means I'm not going to get a decent score, anyway.

I am so over this crap, everyone acting like it's the end of the world.
I'll just do the exams and whatever mark I get, I don't really care. ESPECIALLY ENGLISH, I've never really gotten English, yet I'm forced to sit two exams talking about tone and shit, yet I struggle because many of my teachers are less knowledgeable than I am.

Goodluck to all you skillful b*llshitters, I just can't do it.

my four basic ideas for a journey Q which i have been using all year and i can twist to suit any Q:
- journey incur irreversible consequences
- journeys evoke challenges /obstacles to be overcome
- journeys are sometimes negative in nature
- physical journeys can evoke emotional / inner growth / understanding about self and world around them

lol, yea i agree. i hate that english is compulsary..and the HATE the word journey, i think i will hate that word for the rest of my life. thursday is going to be awesome when i finish english FOREVER and can burn the journey booklet.

can the stupidity of your classmates bring you down significantly? has it got to do with ranks and moderated assessment marks?

would u use all of them in an essay? or would u apply the relevant ones to the question? for example in this instance, (i assume) u'd pick:
-journeys evoke challenges
-physical journeys can evoke emotional / inner growth / understanding about self and the world around them

thx

There's only some much they can ask you and it's this type of question people would get turned off. So first off take a direction that a physical journey enables us to experienced challenges and therefore give us an understanding to discover ourselves, our relationships. Through this discuss how the challenges are experienced in your texts. You could possibly structure your paragraphs with a main theme as the topic sentence.

You can't place all the blame on your school. If it has limited resources and crap staff, well, that really sucks. But there are so many other places to get info from...

So if your ranks are good, you'll be to some extent protected from how your classmates do, especially if you go well in the exam yourself.

If your ranks are shite, that's your own fault and it's up to you to make that better by going well in the exams.

Hey dont say that stuff about "rich sydney schools" your class mates shouldnt pull u down. Just do your best. Even though i go to a sydney private school that means nothing if i dont put in the effort. For future reference as well we do not start worrying about our HSC til 3 days before. At the age of 15 we are worrying about boys and whether our gucci wallets match our luis vutton handbags. Duh
