:apig: i noticed there isnt much of posting regarding ag, but for those who are doing it, i was wondering what sort of answers and information we're meant to find and have for the points in elective 5-plant management:

- explore the theories for water uptake by plants
- explain how nutrients are taken up by plants

thanx heaps for ur help:D

sorry, i'm not doing plant management for an elective (i'm doing animal production and agribusiness) however, i think i'd be talking about things like xylem + phloem for those questions... ask some bio people if you can look at their textbooks - there should be info there!
if u want to discuss any other parts of ag just pm me... i know there aren't many ag people around BOS, so us minority should stick together!

i did that elective last year~~~!!
*aah the good ole ag days~* hehhe... ag was my fave subject you see...... i did pretty well so i'm happy ^^
sigh.. my notes are all filed away, so i'll tell u what i can remember ^^

- explore the theories for water uptake by plants

um... this is the transpiration pull or something. as water transpires out of the leaves, it draws water up from the roots through the xylem. capillary action also helps to draw water up really tall trees. and guttation happens in strawberries, though that's not really important... i'd stick to the transpiration pull.

- explain how nutrients are taken up by plants

this is all that stuff on diffusion? no.. there was a specific name. You know how when water passes the roots with nutrients and it's in contact? There's like... nothing in D.Ag it's all somewhere else...

bugger all, do u want the details? i'll get them for you tomorrow (or today ^^) when i'm more awake *yawn*
