Would you say the answers to the syllabus dotpoints are adequate on that site or is further explanation needed?

Some of them are quite good. The 2nd column dot points, most of them are adequate. For the 3rd column dot points, i.e. practicals, researches, they just 'help' you...so it's only a guide. In that sense, it's not adequate at all, and you should know that.

Yeah i know that about 3rd column, but im saying if there was a question identical to the syllabus, would those answers give you full marks?

OK, this resouce formed a major part of my 2 day cramming for phys so i would say - YES its nice and adequate.

Don't rely on it solely though

But seriously...phys man....just know the dot points and bang..u get 96 like me.

If found HSC online is good but some of the explaination and summarise aren't adequate.
The best summary I think was from this site in the Physics Notes Thread.

Make it into your own words then use HSC ONline to use as a checking and any extra points you haven't added.

I doubt it, too. You need more than just HSC online. It's a good site, but if you're going to rely on a crutch like that, it's better to rely on multiply crutches. Makes for a sturdier frame. Hmm. I should be a civil engineer.

use hsc.csu, in conjunction with a text-book (eg jacaranda) and if you need more, possibly refer to other phys texts or the internet.

If you used hsc.csu.edu.au you should be able to tell where further explanation is needed, this can be obtained from textbooks etc. Of course if you plan on doing physics at university it is probably better to actually learn the concepts behind the points.

Nit, thats what im doing, doing the jacaranda questions and using hsc online to fill in some of the questions which i cant find in the book. I think ill do surfing aswell. That should be enough right?

some stuff of hsc.csu.edu.au is clearly summarised of jacaranda (and some other sites i found), its good to read this just as backround knowledge. But like others have said, some points are good while some are useless and off the point

wrx: well thats what got me through phys last year. I crammed most of the phys though. I never made any notes (for phys or chem) and near the exams, esp for phys, just went over the dot-points as thoroughly as I could. Screwed up the phys hsc exam, but oh well...

I don't think it's adequate, I came across one today that didn't really answer the dotpoint at all. I use it as a reference when I'm making summaries to make sure I'm on the right track. They seem to be a bit brief on their own

yeah i think discuss means to go into a little more depth than just give the formula and how its derived

Depends on what you use the site for. Their answers are generally short and straight to the point so you can use the site to get general background information on a topic before going further into it. Using hsc.csu.edu.au alone for making topic notes = gruesome death
