"oh my mathematics! what is that spherical object?"
"it's not perfectly spherical, it has pentagons on it!"
"them be no pentagons! they are three dimentional shapes!"

and so on..

I heard about this HSC day from the headmaster of St. Andrews College in Sydney. Yeah, so obviously no one's really heard about it.

Well, actually...

I think the proper name for a soccer ball is a truncated dodecahedron. It's a combination of pentagons and hexagons which gives the illusion that it is spherical.

Well, that's the theory. In practice it is spherical, with the polygons painted on giving the illusion that it is a flat surfaced solid giving the illusion that it is actually spherical, which it actually is!

And for my mathematical formula on happiness, simply follow this link!

The USyd 'open day' is on Jan 3 (which is why they have theirs on Jan 2).
