It seems that the HSC essay questions are related with what is happening that current year.

For example, the labour market policies question last year and several other which I cannot recall.

Is the HSC essay questions set so that they tie up with what is currently happening?

Yeah, that's my bet. Given that they do set the essays in that way.

If you read the syllabus its all related to Contemporary issues.
Meaning yes, they may tie into things that are happening now. But maybe not.

Technically no. But subconsciously it probably is set like that. Who cares anyway? They could ask anything so study everything.

you don't get what I'm saying, I'm asking if it's true that they set the essay questions to match the main issues currently in the economy.

Like last year they had the question on labour market policies when the IR laws were introduced..

The new syllabus requires students to investigate economic problems and issues in both contemporary and hypothetical economic situations.

*sigh*
alright I'll rephrase it.
Last year one of the essay questions was about labour market policies.
Is it just a coincidence that that question was asked the same year the new IR laws were imposed or did the exam setters do it on purpose because it was a hot economic topic at the time?

I know the syllabus requires us to answer the question theoretically and also within the current conxtext but are the questions set to relate to what is hot economically at that point in time?

Just treat it as coincidence. Obviously there will always been something in the course that is relevant in a contemporary setting (well, you'd hope so).

Well i believe it may not have been a coincidence as we are supposed to know contemporary issues.
