From information I’ve come across on a website OTEN offers the HSC Online not just for students living in NSW but anyone in Australia. I’m really interested in this option as for some reason the Victorian Government hasn’t made this available for students in Victoria. All students, school or mature age, can only complete the VCE by attending classes in person, which are compulsory or else you won’t be allowed to complete VCE if attendance falls below 80%, which is not something that I’m happy about as I am self taught and coming to TAFE for 15 hours a week will only hamper my studies.
I’ve tried to get in contact with OTEN via email and phone but they haven’t got back to me so I was just wondering if anyone can confirm if that’s correct. What are the fees for those on a concession? I'm assuming that fees are the same for all Australian citizens and no restrictions exist between states.
Furthermore I’m not very familiar with HSC system and confused with the terminology and want to know whether the equivalent of doing Specialist Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, Physics, Chemistry, and English is possible via HSC Online delivery? Can I student do just those 5 subjects or a 6 subjects needed. For example I’m fairly certain that all VCE students who get an ATAR of 99.95 all have done at least 6 subjects and that doing just 5 subjects rules out that possibility.
As well as whether the HSC can be done in 1 Year for mature age students. VCE only requires one year of studies, the Year 11 subjects are not compulsory for any subject for students, they’re just highly recommended, but from what I’ve read this might not be the case with HSC.
From the threads I’ve read about this topic Mathematics Extension 2, which is apparently not offered via HSC Online, is the equivalent of Specialist Maths but that some students choose not to do it because the way it is scaled isn’t that favourable unlike Specialists Maths.
