IT'S TIME FOR A STUPID QUESTION! =P

What are the from - to dates for the music practicals? I can't download the pdf on the BoardOS site cos my computers stuffed and I am too impatient to wait and ask my mus teacher tomorrow.

Cheers,
chépas :D.

I'm a vocalist and I'm singing
1) Over the Rainbow - Eva Cassidy version
that's gorgeous.

anyway, for my hsc i played these pieces (piano)
1. another look at autumn by nigel sabin
2. prelude and sarabande by bach
3. nocturne in E minor by chopin

not sure abotu the details for the two pieces coz i never remember these things o__O
i was thinking of doing the moonlight sonata as well, but since i hadn't been practising it regularly, adn also my teacher suggested against it coz the examiners DO get sick of it... not that you shouldn't play it, of course.

Elective: Etude-Tableau Op. 39 No. 5 [Rachmaninoff]
Elective: Ce q'ua vu le vent d'ouest [Debussy]

Ext: Rigoletto Paraphrase [Liszt]

do all your performances get assessed in one hit? [i.e. music II and music ext at the same time]. either way i'm pretty sure it's not a problem, but i think they like to see variety in styles. on the other hand, if you played them brilliantly i doubt it'd affect your marks at all.

^^As in for the HSC perf prac? Yeah they are. I remember the poor souls last year who did 3U mus, chose all performance electives and ended up having a good half hourish of stuff!

I've finally chosen a piece. Claude Bolling's 'Toot Suite' for tpt, the Allègre from that, for the core (Mus of last 25 years) - but with lots of cuts and erasures. I'm screwed for performance, and I've only got one to do! :( Oh well... its standard and mark will be proportional to how much I bothered...

umm yea.. thats about it.. some of them are pretty lame.. but they show variation and blah blah.. been learning since start of year.. what kind of music do u guys actually listen to? coz i know that these arn't an accurate representation of my musical taste :S

In my opinion, jazz music rules. :)
It's fun to play and to listen whether slow or fast.
Slow jazz is beautiful and fast jazz is impressive. :p

I have to do my Trial performance tomorrow..wish me luck!:(

and also, apparently its ok to play pieces by the same composer as long as its in a different course.

DMB Fan, good taste in music. The Chili's are my fav. band so I kind of HAD to do one of their songs, and why not a classic form their best album. Are you doing the solo Frusciante does, or just basing it around E?

I'm just basing it around E....MORE FREEDOM!
