if i say come 20th in ranking and someone comes 6th but theres gap of only like 4 marks and then i smash the hsc tests and cover up the gap, will i get a better HSC mark then him or does your ranking stay the same throughout? just as how 1st in assessments will always come first or last will always come last. im a bit confused :/

Depends on how the other guy goes in the HSC tests. What we do know is that your internal marks will have him ahead, and you behind him. But your external mark might be better than his so you may get a final mark higher than him.
