hey all....

despite the heading, i think this thread does belong in this forum....

im wondering if one of the more experienced computer peoples can make a list of all the codes u need for writing maths questions on this forum (such as: sqrt, squared (powers), um...just any others they know that can be helpful....

that way, when us lil kiddos post the questions, and when you all answer em, its easier 4 all 2 read....

thanks in advance

Although I agree that they should be typed out when asking questions I don't agree that they SHOULD be typed out when answering them.

It isn't hard to figure out and unless you are a quick typer with a bit of time it takes awhile for example π which I use takes up 19 more characters than π which takes up 2 more than pi.

Since the people answering them are often doing you a favour it should be made easier for them to read.

I put a fair few common symbols towards the end of that thread McLake posted the link to. Things like θ dont take much longer than theta to type and are alot easier than @ or whatever else you might use.
