The depression was just the thing Hitler needed to gain support from the German people. The depression was important because Hitler was then able to launch his campaign for his government, making people believe that the democracy was the reason behind the depression.

Does that make sense? I didn't do much of Germany before 1933, but that's about right.

No problems. I'm more helpful with Germany after 1933, so PM me if you need anything later on.

as historian alan bullock said the depression put the wind in hitlers sails. hitler promised to and did actually improve the living conditions of the german people. they voted for him cuz they were desperate as germany was hit really badly by the depression. their government had failed them and they'd been suffering for years so they voted for the nazis.

depression exposed weimars weakness, which Hitler used to attack. The people began to see the Weimar government as not serving the interest of the German people but to meet the obligations under the Treaty of Versaillles.

Hitler started drawing all social groups to his favor by promising the people what they want. For the industrail workers he promised the protection of production from communists and socialists. For the peasants he promised them land reform. Hitler was so desperate to gain the peoples support that the stuff he promised went against the program of the nazi party.

ive did this essay before, i'll dig it back up later.

When considering this question it is all too easy to fall into the lull that the only plausible reason for Hitler's monsterous rise in popularity and success by 1933 was bound by the cocktail of problems signalled by the depression.

In this case you must also consider what effect Versailles had upon the state of German/Weimar democracy.
