What you would do if you were stuck is to have a look at sample essays from past hsc's.....also check out the exel study guide

mazza_728...ur crazy :D

Naaa, I guess it's okay...i think that it's just a bit to stupid to comprehend, and there are so many different ways at looking at it, that makes it so 'hard'. If there was just one clear defined way at looking at something, I think everyone would be fine :)

lol i know wat u mean .. i dont particularly like english im more of a maths gal, in maths there is one answer and only one. in english there are so many interpretations and opinions its just way to confusing. i totally understand you're opinion that its too hard to comprehend! when i was first reading the play i was like WTF?? but after seeing a few productions, especially the Bondi Pavillion one because it was set in a modernised context I could listen to the play IN ENGLISH! and it helped. I like the play it's by far one of the best things I've done in english for a long time.. I cant wait till emma/clueless though hehe :) so looking forward to that!!!

I cant wait till
Those 4 words should only be used in context of, the end of the HSC hahahaha

Our class didn't go to see any live productions, and I'm too much of a lazy bum to go see my own...so we just watched films...
I'm looking forward (not can't wait :)) to Frontline, just because it looks so much more laid back and comical :)

delayed reaction

sorry delayed reaction.. but the question is 2001 HSC one..

How might different productions dramatise the struggle between chaos and order in King Lear?

and the readings im doing are feminist and psychoanalytical....

pretty much so far i've just kinda described chaos and order from a feminist perspective, but now im stuck for psychoanalytical....

and i dont know if im even doing it right!

I'm pretty sure there is a thread on this already

'Possible King Lear Questions' or something like that?

It has the questoins from previous HSC's, and the ways to tackle them/approach them from...

If it isn't in 'Important' it would be one or two pages back...

Good luck

Not me. King Lear is perhaps my favourite Shakespeare play. Excellent, I feel.

Through tattered clothes do great vices appear. Robes and furred gowns hide all. Plate sin in gold and justice's hurtless lance doubtless breaks. Arm it in rags, and a pygmy's straw doth pierce it.

In the casting-out speech in scene 1, where Lear curses Cordelia and says basically: cannibals will be as dear to me as thou my sometime daughter... why does he use the more intimate thou than the more formal, distant, you, if he's casting Cordelia out?

mmm his insults are fantastic and completely caustic!
Plus, I think his tradgedies are his best works...Hamlet...Othello...Macbeth
