Domino Theory was introduced by Eisenhower, and from memory that was his doctrine.

Domino theory is important because the Americans were worried about all of ASIA turning communist, like china did in 1949.

Thus domino theory represents the fear the Americans had, and that the Cold War was no longer JUST in Europe, but the WHOLE WORLD.

I know this is like WAAIII old but, I am just doing the Cold War now. The post above this is great but my class was given this basic answer to what the domino theory was:

'The Domino Theory' was the belief that if one nation fell under communist domination, its neighbours would fall 'like a line of dominoes'.

I do hope you managed to find an answer though ^_^
